Artificial Turf has come a long way since the old “astro-turf”. Our Tee line turf surfaces are a unique synthetic turf system, designed specifically for driving range tee lines and mats. Our Tee-Line Turf and driving range mats allow golfers to hit down and through the ball and it also accepts a regulation golf tee. No more club “bounce” if you hit one fat like with traditional mats that have heavy padding underneath.

Sub-Base Options

We have all hit balls at driving ranges that had artificial turf mats or tee lines. The challenge with most tee line turf materials has always been the compaction that occurs of the sand infill particles as they break down, resulting in a very hard and uncomfortable hitting surface. These surfaces can be very painful on wrists and elbows during warm up or extended practicing sessions.

STI has an incredibly soft, yet durable product we call Tee Line Turf. This is a very realistic turf that does not require any sand infill which means it will not compact and will remain soft and playable for years. Iron shots are played with ease and it will take a regular tee; no more rubber tees needed. For those that like the rubber tees, a hole can be cut from the backside for a rubber tee to be inserted. The only maintenance necessary is to blow it off from time to time.

Installation

Listed below are the four different sub-base options photos of an installation of the modular sub-base system. All of these tee line systems can be installed by most superintendents and their crews. Partial or turn-key installation is also available if so desired. Please contact us for more information.

Compacted Stone:

Least expensive but will fail over time with water, freeze, thaw and ground heave.

Asphalt Pad:

More expensive than stone but will hold up much longer. May develop low spots or crack. It does not allow for any “give” should someone hit down too far or too steep.

Concrete Pad:

More expensive than asphalt but will hold up longer. It is less likely to crack and will not develop any low spots. It creates even less “give” than asphalt does.

Modular Panel Base:

Costs more than stone but is less expensive than asphalt or concrete. Allows for a smooth surface forever, will not crack or settle and provides exceptional shock for the golfer. This entire system can be self- installed, partially installed with us doing some or complete turn-key installation.
